Virtual Piano
The application has a built-in on-screen keyboard for your computer. Simply open the lesson and start – no additional applications are required.
Where is it located?
The built-in keyboard is located at the bottom of the lesson screen. You can flexibly control its size for maximum convenience.
Three display modes:
- Collapsed: Compact view to save space.
- Medium: Optimal balance between size and overview.
- Full: Maximally expanded keyboard for comfortable play.
How to control:
To switch between modes, simply click on the symbol in the top right corner of the keyboard itself.
Important feature:
The keyboard displays key presses in real-time – both yours and the student's. This allows for visual monitoring of performance.
How to use the virtual piano?
Basic actions:
- Play: Press keys on your computer keyboard, click with the mouse on the virtual keys on the screen, or connect a MIDI keyboard – sound will appear instantly.
- Pedal: To make the sounds of played notes sustain smoothly, like on an acoustic piano, press and hold the button with the pedal icon located above the keys.
- Move through octaves: Use the arrow buttons "◀" and "▶" on the sides of the keyboard to shift the key range down or up.
Instrument settings:
1. To personalize, click on the adjustment icon on the piano panel. In the menu that opens, you can:
- Choose the instrument sound: change the sound to Grand Piano, Electric Piano, Organ, or Strings.
- Adjust the number of octaves on the screen.
- Turn note labels (letter notations on the keys) on or off.
- Activate key press highlighting – then the key will visually highlight when pressed, both for you and for your student.
2. Achieving Synchronous Playback
The Sync Mode is designed for the perfect synchronization of backing track, metronome, or accompaniment playback between teacher and student, allowing them to play together without delays.
How to achieve synchronous playback?
The application provides two separate modes for this: "Teacher" and "Student". For the function to work successfully, the correct mode must be selected on both sides.
Switching the mode is done using key combinations: Alt + S (Student) and Alt + T (Teacher).
Purpose of the modes:
- "Student" Mode: In this mode, you hear the student's sound synchronized with the music track. This is ideal for evaluating and correcting their playing to the accompaniment.
- "Teacher" Mode: In this mode, the student hears your sound (voice or instrument) synchronized with the track. This mode is optimal for visually demonstrating examples and techniques.
For comfort, you can use hotkeys:
- Change octave:
Shift +/Shift - - Pedal:
Spacebar - Piano hotkeys are displayed on the screen in the application.
If using hotkeys is inconvenient for you, this feature can be completely disabled in the settings menu.
Important Tips:
Independent instrument: The piano works on its own, separately from the music player and the metronome. It can be used together with them or separately.
Can I accompany the student?
Unfortunately, real-time accompaniment is not possible due to internet latency. Instead, use audio files with vocal/music exercises. You can upload them to the audio player and hear the student in sync with the audio file.
Why can't the student see the virtual piano?
The virtual piano is only available in the desktop and tablet versions. Please recommend that the student use a computer or tablet for full access to all features.
If your student is already connected via computer/tablet, they need to expand the virtual piano interface. To do this:
- Hover your mouse over the top-right corner of the virtual piano panel.
- Look for and click the double-arrow icon. This icon controls the panel's size.
After this action, all player elements — will become visible.
Can I upload my own samples for the virtual piano?
You can use your own samples via a microphone, without connecting a MIDI keyboard directly in MOOZ.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to upload your own samples for the virtual piano. However, you can use the available sound types in the app: grand piano, electric piano, strings, and organ.
